1.Total Mexican textile and apparel exports to the United States
Textile and apparel exports going from Mexico to the United States grew 6.5 percent annually from January to March of 2011, according to data published by the U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration- Office of Textiles and Apparel. (www.otexa.ita.doc.gov).
Total exports increased to 1,088 millions of dollars, cumulated during the first three months of 2011.

In March of 2011, there was an increase of 5.4 percent over the same month of the previous year, which represents fourteen consecutive months of growth.
2. Textile exports from Mexico to the United States
From January to March of 2011 textile exports going from our country to the United States grew 11.5 percent over the same period of the previous year; reaching 234 millions of dollars in that period of reference.
Meanwhile, in March of 2010, exports coming from our country grew 4.2 percent over the same month of 2010, cumulating eight consecutive months of growth.
Mexico competes strongly with Asian economies such as China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Bangladesh, reaching 419 millions of dollars in textile exports for the month of reference.

Furthermore, Mexican exports to the United States show that our country is a great supplier of a diversity of products for that market by reporting growth in 69 categories, according to OTEXA numbers, some stand-outs are: coats, men’s suits, sweaters, women’s’ dress suits, denim pants, wool dresses, men’s underwear, women’s and girls’ pajamas, as well as specialized fabric, texturized and waterproof fibers.
